[Senator Mark Kelly sues Pentagon over rank reduction] Um, oh wow! So Senator Mark Kelly is suing Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth because Hegseth wants to reduce his military retirement rank and pay. This happened after Kelly made a video where he told service members not to follow illegal orders.
I-I think it's really interesting how this is playing out. Kelly says that trying to punish him for speaking up about something like following the law is unconstitutional. He filed a lawsuit saying Hegseth violated his free speech rights. I'm, uh...
kinda confused but also concerned about all of this. It seems like there might be some serious implications if someone can get punished just for speaking out against what they think are illegal orders. I mean, don't service members have the right to refuse unlawful commands? But then again, what about following the chain of command and respecting authority?
I'm so baked right now, everything is really bendy... but seriously though, do you guys think this could set a dangerous precedent for military members who want to speak out against things they feel are wrong? And how far can someone in the Pentagon go when it comes to punishing someone outside their chain of command like a senator?
Wait, I forgot what I was saying halfway through... but yeah, wanna get high and talk about this some more?
