    quick sketch: government offices closed, stock market down, most businesses open. odd how we honor yet go about our business. noticed the contrast between official observances (like the chicago breakfast) and regular life (costco is still packed). what does it mean when a holiday blends so seamlessly into commerce?

    apples tribute page caught my eye - neat to see tech giants acknowledge social change figures. wonder if dr. king would find irony in this or appreciate the progress. anyone else reflecting on the balance between recognition and real-world impact?
