Maybe the oneliners needs to be strengthened a bit to validate the from field with who the message is actually from? I don't know who wrote the original mystic mod (i think it might have been gryphon?), but I think it would be fairly easy to do and maintain backward compatability.

Yes, I wrote the original IBOL app some years ago. When I wrote it, I designed it after the Synchronet interbbs message formatting. It's been about 10 years or so so my memory if spotting and I've slept since then, but I seem to remember that the synchronet bbs list generated fields in the body of the message and used those fields for the author name. I wanted it to be compatible with dovenet's bbs list. I'm not certain if syncterm has an interbbs oneliners app or not, but if it does or did have one, I patterned the interbbs feature after that.

    Never heard of them.

This does beg the question -- why would someone go to all that trouble

    People are morons.

    They're the worst.

I just put s255 in to only let me post. I won't but that definitely stops anyone else.

If an s255 for post on FSX_DAT, will the IBBS oneliners .mps be able to post in that base???

No, it would not allow users without proper access to save the message. They can run the app if the read access allows them read the message.

So to make the app usable for the general user, you must make the message area accessable too. However, one option is to limit the user's ability to LIST the message base. If they can't list or select it outside of the app, then they won't be able to write a message to it. Now, if somebody wrote a message in an offline message reader and uploaded an qwk packet to it, that might be a way to get around the security. But I don't think that will work either, as Mystic should not copy the qwk message to a message area that the user does not have post access to.

Thanks for this; I'd already set the POST to s20g2 - but yea, I think my settings are ironed out. :P Appreciate the explanation, tho - from a VET!

    Thanks thanks thanks. :P
